The section offers competition in two disciplines namely boat angling and shore angling;

The boat league is fished over 6 matches with results deciding the teams for the following years regional and national competitions. Teams consist of 4 persons. Results in the regional competition decide qualification to the national competition. Individual results in the nationals may qualify members to represent national teams.

In addition there is a Northern Counties boat competition.

The shore section has a similar league format decided over 8 competitions. Again league placings decide teams for the following years regional and national competitions. Success at individual level at the national competition will qualify members to represent national squads.

In addition the shore section fish a two legged cup match for a memorial trophy, usually in the summer months, as well as knockout competitions.

Competitions are open to all officers and staff as well as guests. Qualification for Regional and National competitions however is restricted to NPSCC members as governed by Police Sport UK rules and constitutions.
Competitions are open to all with two leagues deciding placings for NPSCC and non-NPSCC members for qualification spots as above.

2019 Boat Season.

From 6 trips fished during the Summer season, 4 competitions were fished out of Craster producing excellent catches of cod and mackerel, with the odd ling, pouting and wrasse. The other 2 competitions out of Sunderland and Hartlepool were nowhere near as productive. The biggest points scoring fish of the season, however, was caught by Jim Campbell at Hartlepool in July - a 65cm cod.

The boat season was won by Ray Archbold with a points total of 9,267 (138 fish). Total number of ‘legal size’ fish caught by 11 anglers was 670 - in addition to hundreds of undersize fish.

The National Boat Championships in Hampshire was won by West Midlands and the Regional Boat Competition at Hartlepool was won by South Yorkshire (not bad for two land locked forces !!) ... with the Northumbria ‘A’ team in 2nd place at the Regionals.

Looking forward to 2020 when Northumbria and Durham are hosting the National Championships on 25th August 2020.

The shore season has kicked off again for the second half of the year with matches at Craster and South Shields. The Craster match produced the biggest fish of the year so far, a 5lb cod for Barry Smith.

Next up is the shore national at Minehead on 12th and 13th November, a new venue and we are also supplying 4 stewards to support a small team of hosts from Devon and Cornwall Constabulary.

Regional shore competition follows on Monday 18th November at Seaham, County Durham before the final three matches to decide the shore winner.
