Regional Comp 11th July 2009

Northumbria Police Boat section took part in the regional Championship fished out of Whitby on Thursday 11th July 2009 with two 4 man teams taking part. The competition is fished annually and is used a a qualifier for the National event. Teams are submitted from Yorkshire forces up over.

Fishing was good as were the conditions barring a freak 5 minute hail storm. The competition is run on a catch measure and release system all anglers caught. Species included Cod, Ling, Coalfish, Dab, Plaice, Catfish, Gurnard and pouting. The results were as follows.

Individual winner and newest member fishing his first season was Dave Kernigan D1(centre of 1st photo) caught 16 size fish in a mixed bag runner up was Mick Todd D1. Heaviest fish (longest) was Nige Howitt D1 (second photo 15lb cod) Largest flat fish Mick Todd D1 (2.5lb plaice).

Durham's A team were  first closely followed by Northumbria A Fred Douglas Phil Thompson Nige Howitt and Mick Todd Northumbria B made it into third Dave Kernigan Gary Loose Peter l Elliott Giles Evans.

Local League Competition Saturday 13th July 2009.

The Northumbria police sea angling Boat section held there first Boat comp of the year fishing Seahouses. With a surprise entry of the chief constable who managed a very credible 3rd. Conditions were good with plenty of fish coming aboard mainly cod. Results as follows.
